PURPOSE: An information storage medium, a method for recording data on the information storage medium and a data recording device thereof are provided to include recording speed information for a drive complying with a different standard and version information of the lowest rank where a recording speed is supported, thereby determining a recording speed at which data can be recorded even though a different standard of storage medium is loaded. CONSTITUTION: At least one of recording speed information supported by an information storage medium is associated with standard information having the lowest version in a reproduction-only area. The standard information supports each recording speed such that a drive complying with a certain standard different from a predetermined standard can record data on the information storage medium. The standard information having the lowest version relates to information on a supplementary standard.
