PURPOSE: Provided is a process for preparing an olefin copolymer by using a metallocene catalyst having little steric hindrance and excellent polymerizable activity. CONSTITUTION: The ethylene-based polyolefin copolymer is prepared by the method comprising the polymerization step of at least one monomers selected from ethylene, alpha-olefin, a diene-based monomer, a triene-based monomer and a styrene-based monomer under a metallocene catalyst. Further, the cyclic olefin copolymer is prepared by the method comprising the polymerization step of alpha-olefin and cyclic olefin under a metallocene catalyst. The metallocene catalyst is represented by the formula 1, wherein each of R1, R2, R3 and R4 is hydrogen; an alkyl, an alkenyl, an alkylaryl or an arylalkyl; aryl; an oxygen or nitrogen-containing alkyl or aryl; or a hydrocarbyl substituted metalloid radical of metal of a group 14, M is a transition metal of a group 4; A is cyclopentadienyl, fluorenyl, indenyl or a derivative thereof; an amido group or a phosphino group; and each of Q1 and Q2 is halogen; an alkyl, an alkenyl, an alkylaryl or an arylalkyl; aryl; an alkylidene; an amido group; an alkyl alkoxy; or aryl alkoxy.
