POLYMER ELECTROLYTE FUEL CELL COMPRISING PAIR OF SEALING UNIT CONSTITUTED BY FLAT SEALING MEMBER AND LINEAR SEALING MEMBER

PURPOSE: Provided is a polymer electrolyte fuel cell having an excellent sealing property and a stable output characteristic, where unit cells are reliably stacked upon assembly and attachment of a stack, and clearance between a sealing member and an electrode is reduced upon combination of the stack. CONSTITUTION: The fuel cell comprises an electrolyte membrane; a pair of electrodes disposed on both faces of the electrolyte membrane; a pair of conductive separator plates which have gas flow channels for supplying reactive gases to electrodes sandwiched therebetween; and a pair of sealing units which sandwich the electrolyte membrane between the separator plates and maintain hermetical state between the electrodes and the separator plates, wherein the pair of sealing units are constituted by combination of a flat sealing member having a flat portion in contact with the electrolyte membrane and of a linear sealing member having a rib in contact with the electrolyte membrane, and at least part of the rib falls in a direction of electrode when the electrolyte membrane, the electrodes and the pair of separator plates are stacked to be combined.
