Brewery vat waste yeast is recovered for use as pharmaceutical or livestock feed by heating rapidly from storage temp. to 60 degrees C then further to 85 degrees C and briefly only to 143 degrees C, drawing gases off at this temperature, followed by rapid cooling and machine drying. Dry substance content in the end product is 25%, with albumen level of 35 to 40% and carbohydrate level around 55%. The product is light, concentrated and has long storage life. |
