PURPOSE: A recording device with an automatic paper supply unit and the paper supply unit are provided to attach the automatic paper supply unit to a main body of the recording device movably and prevent the introduction of impurities via an opening for paper supply, thereby realizing the compact appearance. CONSTITUTION: An automatic paper supply unit(1) includes a paper supply tray(5) to which a predetermined number of recording media is positioned. A hopper pushes the recording media on the paper supply tray toward a feed roller. A separating pad is positioned at a lower part of the hopper in the proximity of the hopper. When the automatic paper supply unit is opened from a main body(3) of a recording device, an extension tray(67), which is slidable on the paper supply tray, is pulled up, and an opening(65) is completely opened for papers to be disposed at paper supply position on the extension part. If the opening is closed, the automatic paper supply unit is disposed in a receiving position in the main body of the recording device. The extension tray is received in the paper supply tray and the opening is completely closed by a flap(69) provided at a top end of the opening. Since the opening is closed by the flap, no impurity is introduced into the automatic paper supply unit.
