PURPOSE: A device for monitoring a rear side of a car by using a cellular phone and a method therefor are provided to photograph a rear-side image to transmit the photographed image to a driver's camera phone, so that the driver can park or reverse a car while watching the rear-side image through a color LCD of the camera phone, thereby reducing a cost of installing another monitor while realizing a safe driving. CONSTITUTION: A camera unit photographs a rear side of a car, and transmits the photographed rear side to a camera phone of a driver. The camera phone comprises as follows. A controller(33) processes a wired or wireless rear-side photographing image signal, and displays the processed image signal. An image processor(36) processes an image signal inputted through an external image input terminal(20) or a wireless image signal transmitted through an RF unit(32) by corresponding to a control signal of the controller(33). A color LCD(15) displays an image of the photographed rear side of the car on a screen.
