PURPOSE: A washing method of a washing machine is provided to accurately sense the conductivity of the water by an electrode sensor and to decide exactly the quality of water by compensating temperature about a conductivity value of the water and correcting detection deviation. CONSTITUTION: A washing method of a washing machine is composed of steps for detecting temperature around the washing machine(S1); detecting the temperature of the water with a temperature sensor(S2); detecting potential difference of the water by a terminal unit of the electrode sensor and computing the conductivity of the water from the potential difference by a conductivity output unit of the electrode sensor(S3); compensating temperature about a detected value of the conductivity output unit according to the detected peripheral temperature(S5); correcting detection deviation of the conductivity output unit for the detected value with compensated temperature(S7); calculating the hardness of the water and the amount of detergent from the corrected conductivity value and the detected temperature of the water(S8); and executing a washing course by setting a washing algorism according to the computed hardness of the water and the amount of detergent(S9,S10).
