PURPOSE: A system for informing a user of an arrival at a bus stop by using a cellular phone and a controlling method therefor are provided to perceive a subscriber's position through GPS position information and HLR position information of a cellular phone, and to inform a user that the user is getting closer to a bus stop, thereby preventing the user from passing the bus stop. CONSTITUTION: A cellular phone(10) is embedded with a GPS receiving module(15) while performing wireless communication through a PLMN(Public Land Mobile Network)(20). An MSC(30) carries out wireless communication through the cellular phone(10). An HLR(40) registers a position and a state of the cellular phone(10). An information storage DB(60) stores the position of a bus stop and setup value of a cellular phone user. An arrival inform server(50) perceives an exact position through the GPS receiving module(15) of the cellular phone(10) if the user accesses the set bus stop, and informs the user that the user gets near to the bus stop.
