PURPOSE: To consistently use a high efficient filter type air cleaner without additional management or expenses by adjusting spray direction of wet scrubber, thereby automatically washing a filter and suppress the propagation of bacteria in the filter generated in a wet cleaning process by installing ultraviolet lamps. CONSTITUTION: In an air cleaner for sterilizing or collecting the polluted air in a process of passing polluted air flown in through an air passage(A) through UV(ultraviolet) lamps and a filter(1), the air cleaner with self-cleaning function is characterized in that the filter for collecting fine dust contained in the polluted air passing through the UV lamps(6) is fabricated of a washable material, and if an amount of fine dust collected in the filter is increased, a wet scrubber(2) is rotatably installed on a passage through which the polluted air passes, and a spray direction of the wet scrubber is changed to the filter side to clean contaminants collected in the filter, wherein electro-static spraying is performed by the wet scrubber to increase dust collection ratio and gas removal ratio, wherein the air cleaner has functions of preventing or suppressing the propagation of bacteria and generation of smell due to wet(spray and cleaning HEPA filter) process by partially coating a photocatalyst(titanium dioxide) on the surface of the UV lamps, thereby adding sterilization and deodorizing effects due to radicals such as OH and so on, and wherein an electrostatic precipitator is used instead of the filter.
