METHOD OF PURIFYING MOXIDECTIN THROUGH CRYSTALLIZATION, WHEREIN CRYSTALLINE MOXIDECTIN HAS PHARMACEUTICAL PROPERTIES INCLUDING PREVENTION, TREATMENT AND INHIBITION OF PARASITES IN PLANTS, ANIMALS AND HUMAN BEINGS

PURPOSE: Provided is a method of purifying moxidectin through crystallization by using the first and the second solvents. The crystalline moxidectin having a purity of 94-95% has pharmaceutical properties including prevention, treatment and inhibition of parasites in plants, animals and human beings, and is thus used in the pharmaceutical fields including veterinary medicine. CONSTITUTION: The method of purifying moxidectin through crystallization comprises the steps of: (a) mixing moxidectin with the first solvent such as methylcyclohexane to give moxidectin solution; (b) concentrating the moxidectin solution at 50 deg. C or less, and followed by cooling to 30 to 40 deg. C; (c) mixing the moxidectin solution with the second solvent such as the nonpolar organic solvent selected from hexane, heptane, toluene, isooctane and a mixture thereof, and followed by cooling to 10 to 30 deg. C with agitation to form moxidectin crystals; and (d) filtering the moxidectin solution to recover the moxidectin crystals, and followed by drying.
