<p>1300140 Releasable fastenings P WEIGELT 12 March 1970 [15 March 1969] 11928/70 Heading E2A A magnetically fastenable door and frame assembly comprises a door 1 pivotably connected to a door frame 2, and at least one magnetic catch mechanism, the or each magnetic catch mechanism including a carrier member 5 provided with a holder for a door handle 12 and mounted on the door, a first magnetically permeable member 7 movably mounted on guide means carried by one of the carrier member or the door frame, a second magnetically permeable member 4 fixedly mounted on the respective other one of the carrier member or the door frame, the first magnetically permeable member being a permanent magnet and the first and second members being so arranged as to be mutually attracted towards one another when the door is closed, the first member being urged by resilient means 11 in a direction opposite to the direction of said attractive force to a degree insufficient to overcome the attractive force present when the door is fully closed. As shown the guide means of the or each catch mechanism comprises a shank 8 attached at one end to the first magnetically permeable member 7, a collar 9 provided on the end of the shank opposite the one end, and a plate 10 attached to the carrier member and extending across the mouth of a recess 6 therein, the shank extending through an aperture in the plate and projecting into the recess, the resilient means extending between mutually facing surfaces of the plate and the collar. A damping plate of shock absorbent material is mounted on a wall of the recess facing the collar.</p> |
