PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor that detects and corrects the cause of defective pixels such as a black stripe etc., generated by dust etc., when a conveyed document is read. SOLUTION: A digital copying machine 1 when reading the conveyed document with a scanner part fixed at a read position detects dust etc., being present at a plurality of previously set places on the optical path from a light source of the scanner part to a photoelectric converting element and specifies dust positions by a decision circuit 92a according to a shading error signal of a shading correction part 42 making shading corrections of image data of the document according to the reference data obtained by reading a white reference plate and read data on the optical path of the scanner part which is stored in a one-line memory 62 of a dust detection part 41, and an appearance transition counter 101 of an appearance management part 57 counts the frequency of appearance of dust etc., at each dust position specified by the decision circuit 92a, and the counted appearance frequency of the dust etc., at each dust position is stored in an appearance transition table 102.
