The invention relates to a lamp with single-sided socket, in particular, a high-pressure lamp with a vacuum-tight sealed inner vessel, enclosed by a cladding piece, whereby a socket with electrical connectors, supporting the inner vessel and the cladding piece, is characterised in that: a) the socket comprises a socket plinth, made from an insulating material with a central opening surrounded by collars in which the inner vessel is fitted without bonding, b) the socket plinth comprises a circular radially-projecting segme nt with upper and lower plateaux for the socket, c) the cladding piece has a circular opening to the socket side thereof with a radially-projecting edge with an upper and lower contact surface relative to the socket, whereby the lower contact surface of the edge matches the upper plateau of the circular radially-projecting segment of the socket plinth and d) the cladding piece i s fixed to the socket by a cement free mechanical fixing mechanism.
