<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sensor network operating method with which various applications adaptable to system changes or performance enhancement can be easily supported at a low cost. <P>SOLUTION: The method of the present invention comprises a plurality of nodes 20-24 and at least one resource 26, 27, where a resource can be a sensing device (e.g., a camera or microphone) or other peripheral devices (e.g., a storage or recording system). At least one node in a network determines at least one resource available to it and the type of the resource or its capabilities.
