摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a low-cost and simple polymer optical waveguide and an aperture conversion type polymer optical waveguide which changes the apertures at both ends of the optical waveguides. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the polymer optical waveguide has stages of; (1) applying a setting resin for mold formation to the master disk for manufacturing the polymer optical waveguide, then setting the coating and thereafter manufacturing the mold by releasing a set resin layer and the master disk for manufacturing the polymer optical waveguide; (2) bringing a base material for a clad into tight contact with the mold; (3) filling the recess of the mold with which the base material for the clad is brought into tight contact with the setting resin for core formation; (4) setting the filled setting resin for core formation; and (5) forming a clad layer on the base material for the clad formed with the core. Further, the polymer optical waveguide has the core of a circular or elliptic shape in the upper of the sectional shape and a rectangular in the lower part and has a portion where the cross section of the core changes continuously in the longitudinal direction.
