PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braking force control device for a vehicle capable of preventing an unnecessary brake assist control from being executed or the necessary brake assist control from being ended prematurely by conducting a brake assist control in which physical amounts other than the master cylinder pressure representing the brake operation amount of the driver are taken into consideration. SOLUTION: The target deceleration Gt of the vehicle is computed on the basis of the braking operation amount of the driver (S40-60), and when the normal control starting conditions are met about the master cylinder pressure (S90) and the final target deceleration Gt is no less than its start reference value (S100), the brake assist control is started (S140), and when the normal control starting conditions are met about the master cylinder pressure (S120) and the return amountΔSt of the stamping stroke St of a brake pedal 12 is no less than the end reference value (S120), the brake assist control is ended (S150).
