PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accelerate a processing speed in a hot-melt bookbinding machine. SOLUTION: The bookbinding tape 4 is of a three-layer structure comprising a tape base material 5, a hot-melt thermosensitive adhesive layer 6 and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 7. The pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 7 is of a mesh type or a stripe type in such a way that the intermediate hot-melt thermosensitive adhesive layer is exposed into small holes of the mesh or interstices between the stripes of the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer. The spine, face cover and back cover of a booklet to be bound stick to the booklet by a sticking action of the thermosensitive adhesive layer by pressing the bookbinding tape to these members and further, the hot-melt thermosensitive adhesive melts seeping inbetween the pieces of paper by heating the spine of the booklet. Thus the spine part of each page is mutually bonded and the face cover, back cover and bookbinding tape are bonded together by the sticking action of the bookbinding tape. Consequently, the bookbinding process can be performed without heating the face cover and back cover parts and time required for the process can be shortened. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
