TOOL HEADSTOCK OF MACHINE TOOL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a cleaning mechanism for cut chips of a tool headstock on which a turning tool and a milling tool are mounted. SOLUTION: The tool headstock 1 has a tool spindle 20 rotatably supported in a housing 10. A tool holder 90 is drawn out from a shank hole 30 of the main shaft. When the tool is to be replaced, air A1is jetted from a nozzle 62 for cleaning. A tool seating surface 24 at the tip of the tool spindle 20 is also equipped with a nozzle 250 for jetting air A2. A control valve 210 with an air flow sensor detects air leakage to sense a failure in seating of the tool. Sprays S1and S2jetted from a coolant supply pipe 300 wash the periphery of a front face plate 100. The front face plate 100 has a flange 110 and a groove 120 and includes a structure resistant to adhesion of the cut chips. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
