The roll (4) is mounted in a bracket (2) comprising two angled parts (6, 7) with rounded end regions (8, 9) inserted one into the other. The larger diameter end region contains a permanent magnet (21) and the smaller diameter end region contains a polarised shoe (25) for engaging with the magnet when the two angled parts are fitted together. The roll is mounted between two bracket arms which can moved apart or away from each other and fixed into position in order to accommodate different length rolls.
