<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gateway device capable of sending and receiving data at high speed between different networks even in a sleep mode. <P>SOLUTION: A controller 7 varies Tr control output 24 to control switching states of switching circuits 200 and 201. Consequently, connection destinations of networks 25 and 26 are switched to a bus 15 for bypassing or the controller 7. In the sleep mode, connection with the bus 15 for bypassing is made to directly connect the networks 25 and 26.
