PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-frequency power amplifier circuit which has excellent linear characteristics even when the gain is varied over a wide range and a wireless communication system. SOLUTION: Disclosed is the high-frequency power amplifier circuit which is provided with an amplifier or attenuator (120) at least in front of or behind a power amplifier circuit (110) having a specified gain and a nearly linear input/output characteristic and also provided with a comparing circuit (160) comparing the levels of the input and output of the power amplifier circuit. This high-frequency power amplifier circuit which corrects the error of the gain of the power amplifier circuit by varying the gain of the amplifier or attenuator according to the comparison result of the comparing circuit controls the gain of the amplifier or attenuator according to the gain control signal supplied from another circuit or device and the comparison result of the comparing circuit.
