PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a durable rotary indexing table apparatus in which backlash in the gear train of a reduction gear is eliminated and a bending apparatus for a metal plate using the same. SOLUTION: The rotary indexing table apparatus 80 is provided with an upper turn table 47 which is freely rotatable and ascendable and descendable and a lower turn table 57 which is situated just below the upper turn table and can perform rotary index, wherein a gear 83 is provided on the rotary indexing shaft of the lower turn table and also a pinion 87 which is engaged with the gear and freely rotatable is provided. The rotary indexing table apparatus 80 is further provided with a rotary torque imparting means with which the rotary torque in one direction is imparted to the pinion when the lower turn table is positioned for rotary index and the rotary torque is not imparted to the pinion when the lower turn table is rotationally run.
