PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capacitance-type sensor capable of easily conducting sticking self diagnosing, even after shipping the product. SOLUTION: In the device for detecting acceleration by using the static capacitance type sensor 1 provided with a 1st fixed electrode 11 and a 2nd fixed electrode 12 and a movable electrode 13 arranged between them, a test for detecting the presence of a contact between the 1st or the 2nd fixed electrode, and the movable electrode is performed. When the device receives an instruction for inspection, in rsponse to the instruction, the moveable electrode is made to contact the 1st or 2nd fixed electrode by electrostatic force by adjusting a bias between the electrodes. After that, determination whether the detection output is fixed with the high level or low level is conducted, while keeping the moveable electrode at the mid point of the 1st and 2nd fixed electrodes by the electrostatic forth by adjusting the bias between the electrodes.
