PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic ink jet head in which variation in the ejection performance can be corrected among heads in a short time by simple operation without performing measurement of ejection performance or formation of correction data requiring intricate control or a long set-up time when the ink jet head is replaced and writing with high image quality can be ensured stably for a long time, and to provide an electrostatic ink jet recorder employing it and its controlling method. SOLUTION: The electrostatic ink jet head comprises an ink jet head body for recording an image on a recording medium by controlling ejection of ink containing charged fine particles with electrostatic force, and a head characteristics storage means storing data for correcting the ink jet head body to be located at a specified position with respect to the ejecting direction of ink.
