The device for the feed of sheets in a printing machine has at least one feed element for a sheet (3) along a feed path, and at least one guide element for guiding of the sheet in the direction of feed. The guide element is in the form of a long coil extension spring which has coils wound from round wire. Several coil springs are provided in a parallel arrangement and the ends are fastened on a common holder. The coil springs are located between brake modules (7.1,7.5) installed at right angles to the direction of feed (8).
