APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PROCESSING AUDIO SIGNAL WHEN MAKING VOICE COMMUNICATION IN MOBILE TERMINAL FOR RECEIVING DIGITAL MULTIMEDIA BROADCAST

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for processing the audio signal when communicating in voice in a mobile terminal for receiving a digital multimedia broadcast.

SOLUTION: In the mobile terminal capable of receiving a transmission digital multimedia signal on which a compression-encoded audio/video signal is multiplexed, a radio receiving part receives a radio signal for voice communication and converts this signal to a coded signal, an audio processor converts the coded signal to an electrical voice signal and outputs it through a speaker. A demultiplexer receives a digital multimedia signal and separates the multiplexed audio/video signal from this signal. A decoder decodes the separated signals and provides the decoded signals to the speaker and a display. Furthermore, a controller discontinues the decoding of the audio signal and outputs the voice signal from the audio processor through the speaker, if a voice communication request is generated when receiving the digital multimedia signals.
