<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original plate for a planographic printing plate and a planographic printing method which can realize direct platemaking by infrared laser beam scanning and enables press developing properties and stain resistance to be compatible with high printing durability. <P>SOLUTION: This original plate of a planographic printing plate includes an undercoating layer and an image recording layer, which contains a polymerization initiator, a polymerizable compound, and an infrared absorber and can be removed by a printing ink or dampening water, provided in that order on a support and is characterized in that the undercoating layer contains a compound having an ethylenically unsaturated bond and a functional group adsorbable on the surface of the support.
