PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress stitch defects to a minimum so as not to be visually recognized with a human eye.

SOLUTION: An organic film composed of a negative type photosensitive material is formed on a substrate containing an active region. Subsequently divisional light exposure with a plurality of shots including first and second shots adjacent to each other is carried out to the organic film on the active region. A black matrix 220 having openings 0 corresponding to pixel regions is formed by developing the organic film. In this case, the black matrix is designed in such a way that boundary parts a and b of the first and second shots cross the openings 0 of the black matrix 220 and/or are placed inside boundary lines of the black matrix 220.
