DECLADDING METHOD AND DECLADDING DEVICE OF SPENT NUCLEAR FUEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for decladding spent nuclear fuel which can efficiently and easily removing cladding from spent nuclear fuel.

SOLUTION: Spent nuclear fuel tube is finely cut one by one to a size of 1 to 2 mm by using a crashing machine 1 having a feeder 7 for sending one to a few tubes P of spent nuclear fuel made of austenitic stainless steel in which spent fuel is as-charged and a plurality of blades 4 and 5. The obtained debris is separated into cladding and nuclear fuel by a magnetic separator 20 having a vibrating feeder 27 for sending debris. The magnetic separator 20 is arranged below the crushing machine 1. By using the decladding device of this invention in this manner, spent nulear fuel in efficiently decladded state can be obtained without using a solution liquid such as nitric acid.
