<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving operation assisting device for a vehicle capable of determining a precedent vehicle by a simple method based on an image of a front region of one's own vehicle and performing reaction force control of a vehicle operation apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The driving operation assisting device for the vehicle comprises an image pick-up means for photographing the front region of the own vehicle, a proceeding vehicle candidate detecting means for detecting a proceeding vehicle candidate based on the image of the front region photographed by the image pick-up means, and an operation reaction force control means for controlling an operation reaction force of the vehicle operating apparatus related to the driving operation. The proceeding vehicle candidate detecting means comprises a lowest end position detecting means for detecting lengths of two vertical lines extending from the lower end of the image to the intersection of two vertical lines with the lowest end position of the proceeding vehicle candidate, and a proceeding vehicle detecting means for determining that the proceeding vehicle candidate is a proceeding vehicle when the lengths of two vertical lines detected by the lowest end position detecting means are shorter than a predetermined value or substantially the same. The operation reaction force control means has a longitudinal operation reaction force control means for controlling the operation reaction force of the vehicle operation apparatus related to the longitudinal driving operation of the own vehicle based on a determination result of the proceeding vehicle detecting means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
