PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially advantageous method for producing an optically active cyclopropane compound which is a compound important as a synthetic intermediate for agrochemicals such as a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide, medicines, etc. SOLUTION: The method for producing the optically active cyclopropane compound represented by formula (4) is characterized as follows. A prochiral olefin represented by formula (2) is reacted with a diazoacetic ester represented by formula (3): N2CHCO2R8in the presence of an asymmetric copper complex prepared from an optically active bisoxazoline compound represented by formula (1) and a copper compound.
