PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiprocessor system and a method for maintaining cache consistency of thereof. SOLUTION: A plurality of processors, each of which includes at least one cache memory, and the multiprocessor system including a memory unit shared by at least two processors, comprises a directory memory, which is arranged so that cache memory common information corresponding to each data block of the memory unit can be stored; and a control unit, which transmits an interrupt to the processor when an access request from one of the processors to any data block of the memory unit is received by the control unit and also a requested data block obtained by referencing the directory memory is shared with the other processor. Thus, the multiprocessor system can reduce a power consumption of the system for maintaining cache consistency without using a complex logic. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
