Image-formation using photosensitive - sulphonate polymer

A layer contg. the polymer is exposed to render the polymer insoluble in the exposed areas, and processed to remove the soluble areas. The relief image is suitable for use as a printing plate. Pref. the polymer is a poly(alkylaryl sulphonate) such as poly((m)ethyl-p-vinyl benzene sulphonate). The imaged member may be heated to make the image areas denser.
