<p>The device has a long profile part (10) for absorption of impact energy during a crash. This has sections of different stiffness, which are formed by heat treatment or similar. The sections (15) accommodating the highest force or torque loads during introduction of crash energy, have the highest stiffness. The sections (13,14) including the outer end faces (11,12) of the part have lower stiffness, and have been formed by heating, esp. annealing of the part. The stiffer sections have been formed by accelerated cooling, esp. by quenching. The parts consists of a non-iron metal, esp. a light metal, e.g. aluminum or aluminum alloy, or of iron, esp. steel.</p> |
