A processing unit (PU) (10) turns a video input signal (1) into a video output signal (VOS) (14,15). A synchronizing unit (6,7) controls the PU by relying on image change frequency (ICF) in the video signal. An output unit (OU) (11-13) transmits the VOS processed by the PU. The OU has a digital-analog converter and transmits video signals with half or double ICF. An independent claim is also included for a method for eliminating non-signal image contents from an input video signal.
