The invention relates to the mining industry, more specifically to diamond mining. The inventive separator comprises an original stock loading device (1), a flume-shaped unit (5) for delivering the stock to an area (6) for detecting a desired product, an X-ray tube (7) connected to the power supply thereof, a photomultiplier (8), a data processing and control unit (20), a device (15) for separating the desired product and a device (16) for collecting the desired and tailing products. The novelty of the inventive separator lies in that the power supply for the X-ray tube (7) comprises a converter (9) for converting a circuit voltage into a low-voltage high frequency tension, a high-voltage transformer (10) and a voltage multiplier (11). Said high-voltage transformer (10), voltage multiplier (11) and the X-ray tube (7) are arranged in a tight body (12) filled with a high-voltage insulating agent. One of the body walls is provided with an opening in which the X-ray tube (7) anode is hermetically fixed and whose window (13) for X-rays transmission is projected outside the body (12).
