<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique which improves the compression rate at a low calculation cost while preventing degradation of images. <P>SOLUTION: When multi-valued image data are compressed, a part of an arbitrarily selected pixel is set as a complementing area where data are generated from peripheral pixel data by weighted averaging, and the pixel is simply represented by preserving a method of complementing instead of pixel data itself, and thus image data is compressed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
