摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high transparency illuminating glass which is used for the light source or the like of an illuminator for a liquid crystal display element for a TV application or the like, and can be used as the sheath tube of a thin fluorescent lamp using Kovar or molybdenum as an introduction metal, and which has satisfactory UV solarization resistance and ultraviolet ray shielding property at 313 nm. SOLUTION: The glass is characterized by containing, by mass, 55-75% SiO<SB>2</SB>, 6-18% B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0.3-5% Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 4-16% Li<SB>2</SB>O + Na<SB>2</SB>O + K<SB>2</SB>O, 0-6% MgO, 0-6% CaO, 0-20% SrO, 0-20% BaO, 0-10% ZnO, 1-30% MgO + CaO + BaO + SrO + ZnO, 1-3% CeO<SB>2</SB>, 0.001-5% ZrO<SB>2</SB>, 0.01-0.3% Fe<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0-3% TiO<SB>2</SB>, 0-0.5% Cl<SB>2</SB>, and 0-0.1% SO<SB>3</SB>.
