PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile identification apparatus which performs retransmission while changing radio wave propagation properties as a diversity even in a single antenna system to enhance the reliability of communication and to improve a communication speed or responsiveness between interrogator and a transponder. SOLUTION: The mobile identification apparatus that uses circularly polarized radio waves for communications between the interrogator 11 and the transponder 12, comprises polarization plane switchers 3, 9 on at least one of the interrogator 11 and the transponder 12. When a communication error occurs, a polarization plane which is opposite to the polarization plane wherein the communication error occurs, is used for communication by the polarization plane switchers 3, 9.
