PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of times of memory accesses or comparation operations when detecting the coincidence of input data and the number of coincidence detection candidate data. SOLUTION: A pattern memory 43 stores in advance, in an address assigned to each of possible values that each of fields of a section header can have, reference data which indicate that the possible value is coincidence with the detection condition ("coincidence") or reference data which indicate that the possible value is noncoincidence with the detection condition ("noncoincidence"). A section data segmentation circuit 41 sequentially segments partial data from the input data and imparts an address corresponding to a value of the segmented partial data to the pattern memory 43. The pattern memory 43 outputs the reference data stored in the address supplied from the section data segmentation circuit 41. Decision section 44-46 decide whether or not the input data are coincidence with the coincidence detection condition based on the reference data from the pattern memory 43.
