Scanning microscope, especially a confocal laser scanning microscope has an arrangement for pivoting a scanning mirror (5) and at least a detector for recording light emitted or reflected from a sample. Position data packets are formed from a position signal relating to the position of the mirror and are correlated with sample image data, which are formed from the detection light. To this end, the microscope has an additional data recording channel solely for data relating to the scanning axis of the scanning mirror.
