The transverse differential control method has the transverse differential for each wheel axle switched in when the vehicle velocity is below a threshold velocity and maintained switched in until the threshold velocity is exceded, the transverse differentials switched out when the vehicle velocity is above a second higher threshold velocity and maintained in the switched out mode when the velocity is between the 2 threshold velocities. The transverse differentials are switched back in when the acceleration of the drive excedes a limit value.
