PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a throttle opening detector which can increase safety by shutting off the propulsive force of a vehicle regardless of the output by a detecting means such as a potentiometer when a throttle grip is returned to the initial position. SOLUTION: This throttle opening detector is equipped with a roller 2 which can rotate while interlocking with the throttle grip being attached to the distal end of a steering wheel bar HB of a vehicle, a rotating body 3 and angle sensors 5a and 5b which detect the rotating angle of the roller 2, and a case 11 which is fixed to the proximal end side of the throttle grip in the steering wheel bar HB while housing the rotating body 3 and the angle sensors 5a and 5b. Then, the throttle opening detector detects a throttle opening degree based on the rotating angle of the roller 2 which is detected by the angle sensors 5a and 5b. The throttle opening detector is equipped with an initial position detecting means comprising a magnet 9 and a hole element 10, which detects the initial position of the throttle grip, and the propulsive force of the vehicle can be intercepted based on the detection by the initial position detecting means.
