PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feeder for establishing a consistently good feeding condition while eliminating manual ambiguous and troublesome work by automatically setting recording medium guide members (paper guide rings, a paper feed roller and a separating roller) at the best position in response to a change in the conditions of sheet recording media including a size, and to provide an image forming device therewith. SOLUTION: The feeder comprises the paper guide rings 34 slidably provided on both sides of a paper feed separating roller 11 at a driving shaft 30 to which the paper feed separating roller 11 is fixed. One paper guide ring 34 is constrained by a ring guide left 36 and the other paper guide ring 34 is constrained in a similar way by a ring guide right. The ring guide left 36 is fixed to a left rack 41 to be driven by a stepping motor 39 and the ring guide right is fixed to a right rack 42. A control means controls the stepping motor 39 in accordance with size information for printing paper to move the paper guide rings 34 a distance corresponding to the size.
