PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem related to a conventional liquid crystal display in that the amount of power consumed can not be reduced any more, as a voltage generator circuit to supply power is kept activated. SOLUTION: The method for driving the display uses a first plurality of operational amplifiers to generate a first plurality of voltages of different levels associated with a first plurality of gradations displayable in the display so as to display with a second plurality of the gradations out of the first plurality of the gradations on the display. The method includes processes of activating and deactivating for activating the second plurality of the operational amplifiers corresponding to the second plurality of the gradations out of the first plurality of the operational amplifiers, and deactivating the remaining operational amplifiers other than the second plurality of the operational amplifiers.
