PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out measuring elasticity modulus in a wide range by using one apparatus. SOLUTION: The measuring apparatus is provided with upper and lower jaw sections 10, 12 holding both edges of a test piece, upper and lower arm sections 14, 16 holding the center region of the test piece in its longitudinal direction so that a prescribed spacing is formed in the vertical direction, a post 18 supporting the arm sections 14, 16 so that they can be moved freely in the vertical direction, and a displacement measuring section 20 which measures displacement values of the holding positions of the arm sections 14, 16 in relation to the test piece. The displacement measuring section 20 has an optical measuring device 20a, which detects the displacement values by converting them into transmission values of parallel light beams, and a mechanical measuring device which detects the displacement values by converting them into movement values of the arm sections 14, 16 moving in the vertical direction.
