PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized magnetic compass for suppressing the effect of an angle of depression. SOLUTION: This magnetic compass comprises a substrate 11, a biaxial sensor 12 disposed on the substrate 11 for detecting an external magnetic field, and a magnetic north calculator 13 for detecting a direction from the output of each magnetometric sensor. This magnetic compass further comprises a rotating magnetic field generator 14 for generating a rotating magnetic field on a surface of the substrate with a reference point P1 used as the center of rotation.
