PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve system of an internal combustion engine, which can suitably inhibit generation of bounce. SOLUTION: The system is equipped with a cam drive mechanism for open and close driving of a valve 12 seating and separating from a valve seat 10a of a port 22 with cooperation of a cam 18 and a valve spring 16, and an actuator 24 generating biasing force for selectively biasing the valve 12 in either of its opening direction and closing direction and assisting the driving. The gear controls the actuator 24 so that the valve 12 is biased in the closing direction in a seating period in which target displacement of the valve 12 is a seating position.
