PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellular phone unit equipped with a new easy-to-use user interface, in particular, to provide a cellular phone unit having a function to perform an audio response such as time information or call termination information, or the lighting of back light at a display, when a proximity sensor detects an approach if a hand or an object is held on a cellular phone. SOLUTION: A proximity sensor 8 detects an approach if a hand is held on a cellular phone unit 1, and an audio response such as time information or call termination information is announced from a speaker 3, or the lighting of back light 10 of a display 9 is performed simultaneously.
