PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opposite-side state reporting method for an IP (Internet protocol) telephone adapter that confirms the communication state of an opposite side when making an IP telephone call and also confirms whether or not the opposite side is ready for a telephone call at specified intervals if the opposite side can not accept the telephone call owing to a trouble of a communication line, and an IP telephone adapter and the IP telephone device that implement the method. SOLUTION: If a telephone device 2 makes an IP telephone call to a telephone device 3 through the Internet 9 and fails to connect owing to trouble on a communication line or a problem of the opposite-side telephone set, it is confirmed at intervals of a specified time whether the telephone device is ready for a telephone call through IP telephone until the problem is solved to enable a telephone call, and when the problem is solved and a telephone call is enabled, that is reported to the user.
